Tunis (UNA) – The Tunis Afrique Presse Agency, represented by its President and Director General, Najeh Messaoui, participated in a dialogue seminar held on October 26, 2026, entitled “Developing Cooperation through New Media Platforms and Forms of Interaction,” as part of the Media Forum accompanying the Russia-Africa Summit, with the participation of representatives of African news agencies, directors of public and private media institutions, and digital content creators.
Al-Misawi presented an overview of the agency's efforts in producing high-quality news content and its focus on digitizing content and creating new visual formats to enhance audience engagement. He also highlighted the diversity of the Tunisian media landscape, encompassing public and private institutions and various digital platforms.
He explained that the Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP) news agency, founded in 1961, plays a role in disseminating news from the African continent and promoting its projects and partnerships, in line with the African dimension of Tunisian state policy. He noted that the agency recently launched a weekly African bulletin covering news from countries across the continent, emphasizing the importance of developing new platforms that keep pace with the axes of the Russian-African partnership.
On the sidelines of the forum, Al-Misawi held a working session with the Director General of the Russian news agency TASS, Andrei Kondrashov, and a number of members of the agency’s team, during which the two sides reviewed the axes of the agreement to be signed to enhance cooperation in the areas of production, training and news exchange.
Al-Misawi also gave a presentation on a number of projects being implemented at the Tunis Afrique Presse Agency, including the preparation of a hall for preserving and digitizing the archives, a project to broadcast news via a giant external screen, in addition to the start of the use of the photovoltaic station at the agency since last April.
Kondrashov expressed his hope to sign the agreement as soon as the necessary arrangements are completed, to serve as a starting point for the partnership with the “WAT” agency, which he described as one of the most prominent African and Arab news agencies, praising its credibility, the efficiency of its employees, and its experience in covering events at the national and international levels.
