Aden (UNA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Republic of Yemen expressed its strong condemnation of the continued blatant military interventions of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and the Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah in the internal affairs of Yemen, and their role in supporting the terrorist Houthi militia and enabling it to continue its attacks on the Yemeni people and threaten regional and international security.
The ministry explained that what the Ministry of Interior announced about the presence of (21) foreign experts working with the Houthi militia, including (14) experts from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and (7) experts from the Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah, reveals the extent and seriousness of this intervention, and that it goes beyond funding, arming and training to direct supervision and participation in planning and managing operations and building the military capabilities of the militia.
The ministry stressed that this illegitimate foreign military presence represents a blatant violation of the sovereignty of the Republic of Yemen and the principles of international law, confirming the Iranian regime’s responsibility for managing this intervention through elements of the Revolutionary Guard and Hezbollah, and exploiting Yemeni lands to serve its regional projects at the expense of the security and stability of Yemenis.
The ministry stressed that the involvement of these elements in supporting the militia’s military operations contributed to the killing of Yemenis and their forced displacement from their residential areas, and exacerbated their humanitarian suffering, especially in Taiz, where the continued siege and attacks on civilians are multiplying the scale of the humanitarian disaster and threatening the basic necessities of life.
The ministry warned that the danger of this intervention extends beyond Yemeni territory, posing a direct threat to regional and international security, freedom of navigation, and global trade in the southern Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait. Supporting the militia with ballistic missiles, drones, and explosive-laden speedboats, and providing them with the expertise to develop and use these capabilities, increases the risk of targeting ships and threatens vital maritime routes and the interests of countries in the region and the world.
The Ministry called on the international community, and the Security Council in particular, to assume its responsibilities and condemn these interventions, and to take practical measures to stop the flow of weapons and military expertise to the Houthi militia, enforce its relevant resolutions, and hold accountable the states, entities and individuals involved in supporting these activities in accordance with international law, in order to protect the sovereignty of Yemen and the security of its people and preserve regional and international security.
