Riyadh (UNA/SPA) – The following statement was issued by the foreign ministers of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, the Union of the Comoros, the Republic of Djibouti, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Republic of The Gambia, the Republic of Indonesia, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the State of Kuwait, the State of Libya, the Republic of Maldives, the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Sultanate of Oman, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the State of Palestine, the State of Qatar, the Federal Republic of Somalia, the Republic of Sudan, the Republic of Turkey, the Republic of Yemen, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation:
With reference to the statement issued on December 27, 2025, in which the foreign ministers expressed their rejection of Israel’s recognition of the “Somaliland” region of the Federal Republic of Somalia, they express their strong condemnation of the illegal visit recently made by the Israeli official to the “Somaliland” region of the Federal Republic of Somalia on January 6, 2026.
The ministers affirm that this visit constitutes a flagrant violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia, and undermines established international norms and the Charter of the United Nations. They also reaffirm their unwavering support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
The ministers expressed their rejection of encouraging separatist agendas, which threaten to exacerbate tensions in an unstable region, stressing that respect for international law, non-interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states, and adherence to diplomatic norms are essential for achieving regional and international stability.
The ministers commend the Federal Republic of Somalia’s commitment to peaceful international action, constructive diplomacy, and adherence to international law, and express their commitment to continue supporting the diplomatic and legal actions taken by Somalia to protect its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and stability in accordance with international law.
The ministers stressed the need for Israel to fully respect Somalia’s sovereignty, national unity and territorial integrity and to fulfill its obligations under international law, and demanded the immediate cancellation of the recognition issued by Israel.
