The Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council reviews relations between the Council and Japan and ways to develop them.

Riyadh (UNA/BNA) – Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), received Yasunari Morino, Ambassador of Japan to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday at the General Secretariat headquarters in Riyadh.

During the meeting, several topics of common interest were discussed, as well as the review of relations between the GCC and Japan and ways to develop and strengthen them to serve common interests.

The meeting also discussed preparations for the Secretary-General's visit to Japan this week, reviewed developments in the free trade agreement negotiations between the two sides, and followed up on developments in the joint action plan between the two sides for the period 2024-2028, which represents a roadmap for deepening the strategic partnership between the GCC countries and Japan.

The latest developments on the regional and international arenas were discussed and views were exchanged.
