Jeddah (UNA) – Their Highnesses, Excellencies and Highnesses, members of the Ministerial Committee assigned by the Extraordinary Joint Arab-Islamic Summit on Developments in the Gaza Strip, held a meeting today, Sunday, March 23, 2025, in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, Ms. Kaya Kallas, in the presence of Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar; His Excellency the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Palestine, Dr. Mohammad Mustafa; Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Ayman Safadi; Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Dr. Abdullatif Al-Zayani; Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Dr. Badr Abdel Ati; Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Hakan Fidan; Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Sugiyono; Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, Mr. Khalifa Shaheen Al-Marar; Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Cairo; and Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit. And the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Mr. Hussein Ibrahim Taha.
The meeting came after the Israeli occupation forces renewed their aggression against the Gaza Strip, in flagrant violation of the ceasefire agreement, international conventions and treaties, and international humanitarian law.
The meeting discussed the dangerous escalation of Israeli military operations against unarmed civilians. The ministerial committee affirmed the unified position of Arab and Islamic countries rejecting the crimes of the Israeli occupation army, emphasizing the need for an immediate and sustainable ceasefire and the importance of protecting civilians from the Israeli war machine.
The committee's meeting with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, Ms. Kaya Kallas, also emphasized that there is no solution to the Palestinian issue without intensifying efforts to push all members of the international community to recognize the Palestinian state and its right, and to support the rights of the Palestinians to ensure the fulfillment of their rights to establish their independent, sovereign state on the lines of June 1967, XNUMX, with occupied Jerusalem as its capital.
The committee members called on the European Union and the rest of the international community to assume their responsibilities by taking serious action to address all violations committed by the Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinian people, intervene to halt the humanitarian catastrophe, and ensure the urgent entry of humanitarian aid into the besieged Gaza Strip. They emphasized the importance of enforcing international law and holding officials in the occupying state of Israel accountable for all its violations in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem.
The Ministerial Committee expressed the position of Arab and Islamic countries, which rejects, in its entirety and in detail, all displacement operations that the occupation seeks to implement, and the ethnic cleansing to which the Palestinian people are subjected. It also expresses its categorical rejection of any attempts to impose a new reality aimed at liquidating the Palestinian cause, without an independent Palestinian state being the core of the solution.
