Settlers storm Al-Aqsa Mosque under the protection of the occupation police

Jerusalem (UNA/WAFA) – Settlers stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem on Sunday, under heavy protection from the Israeli occupation police.

Local sources reported that about 240 settlers stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque, from the direction of the Mughrabi Gate, and carried out provocative tours and performed Talmudic rituals, amidst the tightening of military measures by the occupation forces in the vicinity of the mosque and the Old City of Jerusalem.

Groups affiliated with the so-called “Temple Mount organizations” had called on their supporters to participate widely in storming the Al-Aqsa Mosque and imposing new rituals inside it, under the pretext of celebrating the Jewish New Year.

The occupation exploits Jewish holidays to close roads and impose strict restrictions on the movement of Palestinians in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, exacerbating their daily suffering and deepening the restrictions imposed on freedom of worship and movement, at a time when facilities are granted to settlers, while citizens are besieged inside their cities, villages and towns.
