Palestinian Prisoners' Affairs Authority: Female prisoners in "Damon" prison are suffering as a result of medical neglect, starvation, and repression.

Ramallah (UNA/WAFA) – The Palestinian Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs reported that prisoner Hanaa Muhammad Hassan Al-Bidaq from Ramallah is suffering from health problems that have been exacerbated by her imprisonment. She has been detained since September 7, 2025, and is still being held in harsh and inhumane detention conditions.

The commission explained that, according to her statement to her lawyer, the prisoner needs regular treatment due to hypothyroidism, which she suffered from before her arrest. However, since her arrest, she has not been referred to an endocrinologist to assess her health condition and determine the appropriate dosage, even though her condition requires regular blood tests and specialized medical consultations at intervals not exceeding six months, because the dosages are changed periodically based on the results of the blood tests..

The prisoner has also been suffering from scabies since last July, and its symptoms persist to this day, coinciding with deliberate medical neglect. She has also lost 42 kilograms as a result of the starvation policy in the occupation prisons..

The prisoner noted that on October 8th, female prisoners were subjected to a repressive operation inside Damon Prison by the “Yamaz” units, with the participation of a prison officer. This included handcuffing the female prisoners behind their backs, covering their eyes, and assaulting them by beating them while taking them to the section, in addition to emptying gas canisters inside the rooms and directing insults and verbal abuse at the female prisoners..

The number of female prisoners in Damon prison is (82), in addition to the prisoner Bushra Al-Taweel, who is being held in isolation outside the prison..

Regarding food, prisoner Bidaq said that the food was in very small quantities and of poor quality.

Regarding the exercise period, the prisoner reported that the allotted time for female prisoners is half an hour, but on an irregular basis..

In the same context, prisoner Saja Daraghmeh, who has been detained since January 22, 2026, suffers from migraine and poor eyesight. She is deprived of treatment, like all female and male prisoners in the occupation prisons. She also reported that she has been suffering from scabies since last July, as she suffers from severe and continuous pain and itching around the clock, without receiving the necessary treatment.
