Jeddah (INA) - The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) expressed its satisfaction with the manner in which the presidential elections were conducted in the Republic of Gabon on August 27, 2016, which recorded a wide turnout of voters. OIC Secretary General Iyad Amin Madani commended all Gabonese voters for their dedication and commitment to democracy and the rule of law during the electoral process, urging all political parties to refrain from any acts of violence and to resort only to legal channels to address any political dispute to avoid jeopardizing the peace and stability they enjoy. In the same context, Madani indicated that the various presidential candidates must accept the results of the elections, which were expressed by the will of the people of Gabon, who demonstrated their political maturity throughout the electoral campaign and on election day.
