Tehran (INA) – Senior officials of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation held a meeting on Monday to prepare for the tenth session of the Islamic Conference of Information Ministers, which is being held in the Iranian capital, Tehran, under the slogan of media convergence for peace and stability in the Islamic world, on the 3rd and 4th of December. The Director of the Information Department of the Organization, Maha Mustafa Aqil, said that the tenth session of the Conference of Ministers of Information and Communication in the Organization comes at a time when our Islamic world is going through multiple crises of all kinds, whether wars, conflicts, man-made natural disasters, epidemics, famine, extreme poverty and unemployment, in When the media spreads fears and frustration in our hearts, we call at the same time that the media speak objectively and responsibly, and they should also give messages of hope and optimism. And Aqil called for “interacting with the information technology revolution, as it is the perfect choice to convey our message to the man in the street, who has in the palm of his hand various information that may be inaccurate or lead to counterproductive results.” She added that for this reason, I believe that the topic of the conference (session: media convergence for peace and stability in the Islamic world) is very appropriate. The conference will discuss nine decisions led by the role of the media in the OIC member states in supporting the cause of the Holy City of Al-Quds Al-Sharif and the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the media movement internally and externally in cooperation with media institutions from the member states and international media institutions. The decisions of the conference also include supporting the work of joint Islamic media work institutions, supporting the process of implementing the media program for the African continent to highlight its status and role in the Islamic world, generalizing the program to other regions, and media cooperation and coordination between the organization’s institutions in serving the issues of the Islamic nation. The decisions that will also be discussed include the development of the project to launch the OIC satellite channel, support for enhancing the media visibility of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in pioneering issues of cultural exchange, development and peace, support for enhancing the capacity and productivity of media professionals and media institutions in member states and cooperation between them, in addition to the establishment of a publications unit within Information Department in the General Secretariat of the Organization.
