The Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission congratulates Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed on his election as Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

Jeddah (UNA) – The Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) extends its sincerest congratulations to His Excellency Mr. Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed on his election as Secretary-General of the OIC, reflecting the confidence of the member states in his experience and competence.

The organization expressed its confidence that His Excellency’s extensive diplomatic and international experience will contribute to strengthening the organization’s position and role and supporting its ability to respond effectively to the growing challenges facing the Islamic world.

As the principal human rights body of the organization, the Commission looks forward to working closely with the Secretary-General, within its mandate and independence, to strengthen the presence of human rights among the organization’s priorities. In light of its 2026–2030 strategic framework, it also looks forward to further enhancing institutional cooperation and integration with the Secretariat, contributing to the implementation of the Commission’s priorities and achieving tangible impact in the field of human rights.

The Authority also expressed its deep appreciation to Mr. Hussein Ibrahim Taha, the outgoing Secretary-General, for his support and cooperation during his tenure, wishing him continued success in his future endeavors..
