Kuala Lumpur (UNA) – In the presence of the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Sri Anwar bin Ibrahim, and his deputies, the University of Malaya, the most prestigious and highest-ranked public university in the ASEAN region, awarded the Secretary-General of the Muslim World League and Chairman of the Muslim Scholars Association, Sheikh Dr. Muhammad bin Abdul Karim Al-Issa, an honorary doctorate in political science, in recognition of his outstanding efforts in Islamic diplomacy.
He graduated from the University of Malaya, which is located in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, and is known for its advanced ranking in the world, according to several international rankings. He includes the most prominent political leaders in Malaysia and Singapore, including the former prime ministers of Malaysia: Mahathir Mohamad, Abdullah Ahmed Badawi, Muhyiddin Yassin, Ismail Sabri Yaakob, and President Current Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, in addition to former Presidents of Singapore: Benjamin Shires and S. R. Nathan.
University President, Dr. Aisha Ong, stressed in her speech during the doctoral award ceremony that the university is proud of this honor for a prominent and worthy figure, with a strong religious influence, and a high scientific and intellectual reputation, who enjoys great respect and trust in the Islamic world.
For his part, the Secretary-General of the Muslim World League, in a speech on the occasion of receiving an honorary doctorate, expressed his pride in this honor from this ancient university known for its sobriety and distinction, from which the senior figures who led Malaysia graduated.
