He pointed out that the Council operates according to a roadmap based on dialogue, exchange of experiences, and submission of proposals, leading to decision-making. He stressed that the ultimate goal of these efforts is to support and enable access to clean water in the poorest and most water-insecure regions around the world, calling for the provision of safe drinking water to be placed at the forefront of international political and development agendas as a fundamental pillar for achieving global stability and prosperity.
Jeddah (UNA/SPA) – The President of the World Water Council, Loïc Fauchon, affirmed the Council’s commitment to working towards the success of the 11th World Water Forum 2027, through building international partnerships, activating sustainable solutions, and encouraging innovation and financing, while placing food, health, environment, and renewable energy files among the basic priorities for the next stage, calling for the Kingdom to be the global water capital.
During the second consultative meeting of stakeholders in preparation for the 2027 World Water Forum, held as part of the first Saudi Water Week in Jeddah, Fouchon explained that the consultative meeting represents a fundamental step towards the eleventh forum, as the global water sector relies on benefiting from experiences and exchanging international expertise. He praised the leading role played by the Kingdom in developing the sector, as the first Saudi Water Week comes as a new platform to attract proposals and visions from experts, specialists and institutions concerned with the water sector locally, regionally and internationally.
He explained that the World Water Council launched several strategic initiatives and proposals, including the establishment of a coalition for water in megacities, the creation of an international center for non-conventional water resources, a new agreement dedicated to sanitation, as well as launching an alliance under the slogan “One Water, One Health,” which are initiatives aimed at structuring international work and providing practical mechanisms for efficient resource management.
