Jeddah (UNA) – The Director General of the Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (UNA), Issa Khairi Robleh, received today, Monday, in his office at the Union’s headquarters in Jeddah (western Saudi Arabia), the Advisor to the President of the Islamic Development Bank Group and the Bank’s official spokesman, Dr. Abdul Hakim Al-Waer. The two sides discussed ways of joint cooperation in the media field to serve Islamic issues, especially in the economic and development fields carried out by the Islamic Development Bank within the member states. The meeting touched on joint cooperation to train media professionals specialized in Islamic economic affairs from the staff of the official news agencies in the member states. At the beginning of the meeting, Robleh welcomed Al-Waer’s visit to the Union’s headquarters, reviewing the work of the Union, the development plans it is witnessing in various aspects, and the efforts made to advance the media work undertaken by the Union in order to serve the Islamic world and its various issues. After that, the Advisor to the President of the Islamic Bank Group toured the editorial departments of the Union, Arabic, English and French, listening to an explanation from the Assistant Director Zayed Abdullah, about the departments’ performance in following up and covering news and issues of the Islamic world, as well as the training center and examining its capabilities and departments, where the supervisor of the center, Fahd Al-Ghamdi, gave a detailed explanation about the center’s capabilities, what it possesses and what programs it offers to develop the capabilities of media professionals.
