Ramallah (UNA/WAFA) – The Israeli occupation authorities continue their repressive treatment of Palestinian female prisoners in “Damon” prison, subjecting them to the same detention policies imposed on male prisoners, including arbitrary arrest, harsh interrogation and the absence of fair legal guarantees.
The commission explained in a statement on Wednesday that the female prisoners in Damon are suffering from difficult detention conditions, manifested in frequent and humiliating searches, the imposition of collective punishments, restrictions on visits, in addition to deprivation of basic life necessities.
She stressed that deliberate medical neglect is one of the most prominent violations against female prisoners, in light of the delay in treatment and the prevention of necessary examinations, which exacerbates their health and psychological conditions. In addition, there is the policy of isolation and arbitrary transfer, and attempts to break their will through continuous psychological pressure.
It is worth noting that the number of female prisoners held in the occupation prisons has reached about 50, according to what was mentioned in a report issued by the prisoners’ institutions yesterday.
