UNICEF: 74 children were killed in the Gaza Strip during the first week of 2025

New York (UNA/WAFA) – The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) announced that at least 74 children were killed in the first seven days of 2025, due to the ongoing violence in the Gaza Strip, including attacks on a unilaterally designated safe zone.

UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell said in a post on the X platform that eight infants and newborns have died since December 26 due to hypothermia, while more than a million Gazan children live in temporary tents unable to withstand the low temperatures.

“We have long warned that inadequate shelter, lack of access to nutrition and healthcare, dire health conditions and now winter weather are putting the lives of all children in Gaza at risk, with newborns and children with underlying health conditions particularly at risk,” she added.
