Amman (UNA/Petra) - The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned in the strongest terms the Israeli bombing of a school affiliated with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in the Nuseirat camp, which resulted in the deaths of dozens, including 6 UNRWA employees, and the injury of a number of Palestinians, which constitutes a flagrant violation of the rules of international law.
The official spokesman for the Ministry, Ambassador Dr. Sufian Al-Qudah, stressed that Israel's continued violation of international law and international humanitarian law is nothing but a result of the absence of an effective and firm international position that ends this ongoing aggression on the Strip, and the killing, destruction and unprecedented humanitarian disaster it produces.
The judges also stressed the Kingdom of Jordan’s rejection and condemnation of this act, which is inconsistent with human and moral values and with the rules of international law, especially the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War of 1949, stressing the need to ensure the protection of civilians and vital facilities that provide basic services to our Palestinian brothers, humanitarian facilities and shelters, which international law stipulates must be protected.
He stressed that Israel, as the occupying power, bears full legal and moral responsibility for the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, stressing that Israel's targeting of relief and United Nations personnel, including UNRWA, is a new war crime added to the war crimes committed by Israel in Gaza, which claimed the lives of thousands of innocent people.
He renewed his call to the international community, especially the Security Council, to take immediate and decisive steps to stop these crimes against the Palestinian people, provide them with the necessary protection, and fulfil their legitimate rights to establish their independent, sovereign state on the lines of June 1967, XNUMX, with occupied Jerusalem as its capital.
