Doha (UNA) – The second ministerial meeting of anti-corruption law enforcement agencies in the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), hosted by the Qatari capital, Doha, today, November 27, 2024, witnessed the signing of the Makkah Agreement for Cooperation among OIC Member States in the Field of Combating Corruption by 21 OIC Member States.
This number of signatures on the same day is considered a historic event, and will contribute to accelerating the steps to ratify the agreement and bring it into force. This number of signatures also reflects the member states’ awareness of the danger of corruption and related crimes, and their keenness to enhance cooperation in the field of combating it.
In this regard, the General Secretariat urges the remaining Member States to take the initiative to sign and ratify the Makkah Agreement for Cooperation in the Field of Enforcement of Anti-Corruption Laws, given its importance in providing a framework for cooperation to confront this serious scourge. It also calls on them to sign and ratify the remaining agreements and regulations so that the Organization can expand the scope of cooperation to include all Member States in all fields.
