Bali (UNA) – The G20 Leaders’ Summit kicked off this morning on the Indonesian island of Bali and will continue for two days. In his opening remarks, Indonesian President Joko Widodo urged the G20 member states to end the Russian war in Ukraine. President Widodo said it is an honor for Indonesia to host the G20 Summit, and I realize that we need to make huge efforts to be able to sit together in this hall. In his speech, the Indonesian President warned against renewed global division, saying: We all have a responsibility not only to our people but also to the people of the world. We must not divide the world into parts. He added: Being responsible means constantly respecting international laws and the principles of the United Nations Charter. It is noteworthy that the G20 is holding its summit today and tomorrow, Wednesday, on the Indonesian island of Bali, without the presence of Russian President Vladimir Putin, where participants will discuss the repercussions of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis on the global economy, especially on energy and global food security. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov represents his country at this summit. (End)
