Iraqi Prime Minister: The attack on Qatar is a threat to shared national security and requires deterrent action.

Doha (UNA/QNA) – Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani called for treating any targeting of Arab and Islamic countries as a threat to shared national security, noting that the continuation of Israel's policies without deterrence will lead to further instability.

In his speech at the emergency Arab-Islamic summit, the Prime Minister reiterated Iraq's unequivocal condemnation of the attacks targeting the security and stability of the region, and its full solidarity with the State of Qatar, the Palestinian people, and all peoples subjected to aggression, whether in Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, or Iran.

He stressed that "the attack on the State of Qatar represents a dangerous escalation and a violation of international law, and threatens efforts to defuse the crisis in the region, in light of Qatar's diplomatic mediation efforts. He indicated that the aggression against it deliberately kills the chances of peaceful solutions," stressing the need for international and UN bodies and organizations, as well as major powers, to assume their responsibilities to prevent the occupation from deliberately harming the international system.

The Iraqi Prime Minister stressed that "any targeting of Arab and Islamic countries must be treated as a threat to shared national security, requiring coordinated diplomatic action and deterrent measures to prevent a recurrence of such attacks."

He highlighted the need to "form a broad Islamic alliance comprising Arab and Islamic countries to confront the security and economic challenges facing our peoples," emphasizing in this context "the formation of an Arab-Islamic contact group that would address the Security Council, the United Nations, and the European Union to convey our position and defend the rights of our peoples."

The Iraqi Prime Minister stressed "the need to develop a comprehensive roadmap for a ceasefire in Gaza under international supervision, followed by a reconstruction program under joint UN-Arab management," emphasizing "the need to reach a political path that guarantees the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, the owners of the land and the right."

He pointed out that strengthening the mechanisms of consultation and coordination between our countries to ensure a collective response to any threat to our sovereignty and security, and activating the joint deterrence system to protect the stability of the region, explained that the occupation authorities are violating the foundations of international law and the United Nations Charter, and are deliberately expanding the conflict in the region.
