The flag of Somalia is sky blue with a white five-pointed star in the middle, adopted in 1954. The blue colour symbolises the United Nations, while the five-pointed star represents the unity of Somalis in five historical regions.

Somalia, or formerly known as the Somali Democratic Republic, is an Arab country located in the Horn of Africa in East Africa and is bordered to the northwest by Djibouti, to the southwest by Kenya, to the north by the Gulf of Aden, to the east by the Indian Ocean, and to the west by Ethiopia. And it owns the longest maritime boundaries in the continent of Africa.
