Kazan (UNA) – The Union of OIC News Agencies (UNA), in cooperation with Tatmedia Agency and Strategic Vision, organized the Strategic Vision Group Media Forum “Russia.. Islamic World”, as part of the Kazan Forum 2026 activities, under the title “A Symbol of Heritage.. The Digital Evolution of Meanings”, with broad international participation from leaders and representatives of media institutions in the Islamic world and Russia.
The forum sessions focused on the impact of artificial intelligence on the media sector, discussing the ethical and social challenges associated with it, and ways to employ it to serve media content and enhance credibility. In addition, there was a presentation on the development of the use of artificial intelligence in the media and its societal impact, and the presentation of practical models for its applications in newsrooms, especially in the Global South.
The Director General of the Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Professor Mohammed bin Abdul Rabbo Al-Yami, affirmed that the Union’s organization of the forum and its participation stem from anticipating the future of media and communication, and enhancing cooperation between media institutions in Islamic countries and their counterparts in the Russian Federation, noting the partnership between the Union and relevant institutions in the Russian Federation, which has been concerned with many strategic issues, for the sake of sustainable development and economic prosperity.
He pointed out the Union’s keenness to absorb these technologies, especially artificial intelligence, as it has worked to employ this technology in the service of its goals and programs, through integrating artificial intelligence technologies into the Union’s work system, and training and qualifying media professionals in Islamic countries in various aspects related to the media uses of artificial intelligence, appreciating the great confidence that UNA enjoys from the media system in the Russian Federation, which was clearly demonstrated in honoring it with the Media Award during the previous edition of the Kazan Forum 2025, in recognition of the active role it played in enhancing the media presence of the forum, through direct attendance and continuous participation, and harnessing all capabilities to convey a comprehensive picture of its work.
He stated that the Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation is determined to take this partnership to new horizons, which would enhance media cooperation and strengthen the bonds of understanding and rapprochement between the peoples of the Islamic world and the Russian Federation. He expressed his gratitude to all member states for their great support of the Union, especially the host country, the Kingdom, and wished the forum enriching outcomes that serve the course of Islamic work.
