Jeddah (UNA) – The Director General of the Union of OIC News Agencies (UNA), Mr. Mohammed bin Abdulrab Al-Yami, received today, Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at the Union’s headquarters in Jeddah, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Permanent Mission of the Federal Republic of Somalia to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Mr. Abdulrahim Osman Elmi, accompanied by the Second Advisor to the Mission, Mr. Abdulshakoor Abdulqader Aja.
During the meeting, ways to enhance media cooperation between the Union and the Republic of Somalia were reviewed, and mechanisms for activating joint coordination in a way that supports media work paths were discussed.
For his part, the Director General of the Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Professor Mohammed bin Abdul Rabbo Al-Yami, affirmed UNA’s firm position in supporting the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Somalia.
He stressed the Union’s commitment to harnessing its professional capabilities and media platforms to highlight efforts aimed at promoting security, stability and development, and to deepen Somalia’s media presence in the regional and international spaces, reflecting the aspirations of its people and serving their best interests.
The meeting also addressed the importance of exchanging experiences and developing training programs, as well as enhancing the presence of Somali media institutions in the Union’s various activities and platforms.
