UNA signs a memorandum of understanding with the General Council for Islamic Banks and Financial Institutions

Jeddah (UNA) – The Union of OIC News Agencies (UNA) signed a memorandum of understanding on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, with the General Council for Islamic Banks and Financial Institutions (CIBAFI) – one of its strategic partners.

The memorandum was signed on behalf of the Federation by the Director General, Professor Mohammed bin Abdulrab Al-Yami, while it was signed on behalf of the General Council by the Secretary General, Mr. Hamza Bawazir.

The memorandum, which came on the sidelines of Mr. Bawazir’s visit to the Union’s headquarters in Jeddah, aims to enhance cooperation between the two bodies affiliated with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in the areas of training, organizing workshops, holding seminars, and coordinating media publications.

The visit, which included discussions on issues of common interest and objectives, also aimed to enhance knowledge and research exchange between the two sides, promote joint cooperation, and strengthen relations in a way that contributes to supporting and promoting growth and sustainability in the Council, which represents the official umbrella for the Islamic finance industry worldwide, as well as enhancing professional standards and encouraging cooperation among Islamic financial institutions globally.
