Jeddah (UNA) – The Dean of the Consular Corps and Consul General of the State of Palestine, His Excellency Ambassador Mahmoud Yahya Al-Asadi, visited the headquarters of the Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (UNA) in Jeddah on Thursday, November 6, 2025, on the occasion of the end of his term. He was received by the Director General of the Union, Mr. Mohammed bin Abdul Rabbo Al-Yami.
During the meeting, Al-Yami expressed his gratitude to the ambassador for his efforts throughout his tenure, and for his keenness to participate and attend all events of interest to member states, praising his prominent role as Dean of the Consular Corps.
During the visit, the ambassador listened to an explanation from the Director General about the Union’s vision as a major media platform for member states, and how it contributes to advancing the media industry, based on Islamic and media values that urge transparency, credibility and tolerance.
The meeting also reviewed the role of “Yona” in supporting the Palestinian cause through intensive daily publication of the violations of the Israeli occupation and the massacres it commits against the Palestinian people, advocating for the Palestinian cause in the media, revealing the facts and fighting the media misinformation practiced by the occupation against the Palestinian people and their just cause.
For his part, His Excellency the Ambassador expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to Al-Yami, noting the cooperation he received from him throughout his stay.
His Excellency also praised the attention that the Union has continued to give to the Palestinian cause, and its ongoing support for it, especially after opening its first foreign office in Ramallah.
