Moscow (UNA) – The Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states, headed by its Director General, Mr. Mohammed bin Abdrabuh Al-Yami, is participating in the 2025th General Assembly of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA), which is being held on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum XNUMX.
This participation comes in response to an official invitation he received from Mr. Andrey Kondrashov, Director General of the Russian News Agency TASS, as part of strengthening international media partnerships and expanding cooperation between global media institutions.
The meeting will discuss the theme of "News Agencies and the Challenges of the Modern World," and its agenda includes four main topics: combating fake news, regulating the use of artificial intelligence in media work, developing editorial policies in times of crisis, and promoting cultural exchange between the peoples of Asia and the Pacific.
Cultural exhibitions will also be held during the session, including the “Culture and Journalism” exhibition through the lens of “Awana,” which documents Asian heritage with rare photographs, and the “Their Immortal Deeds” exhibition, in partnership with China’s Xinhua News Agency, through a photo archive.
It is worth noting that the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) was founded in 1961 with the aim of promoting the exchange of news and information among news agencies in the region. Its membership includes a number of prominent news agencies from various Asian and Pacific countries.
