
Jeddah (UNA) – The Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (UNA) provided extensive media coverage of the Hajj season 1446 AH, in coordination with member news agencies in 57 countries, and in cooperation with a number of international media organizations.
The coverage sought to highlight the exceptional efforts and distinguished services provided by the Kingdom's government to pilgrims to the House of God, to facilitate and ease the performance of the rituals and enrich the pilgrim's experience.
Since the beginning of the season, the Federation has published and distributed more than 150 reports and news items about the season, published in more than 50 languages on numerous international media platforms both within and outside the Islamic world, including 50 European channels.
Within the framework of the media cooperation signed by the Union with the Presidency of Religious Affairs at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, the Union took the initiative to translate the sermons of “Arafah,” “Eid al-Adha,” and “Friday,” which came consecutively during this year’s Hajj season 1446 AH, into 51 international languages.
Targeting more than 80 million viewers, followers and beneficiaries in the Islamic world.
The Federation also launched a live broadcast service on its digital platform for Hajj and Umrah rituals from the holy sites, enabling member agencies and international media outlets to access a direct and reliable source for all Hajj-related news. This will contribute to strengthening the joint media efforts of news agencies in covering this great ritual.
The Federation's Director General, Mr. Mohammed bin Abdul Rabbah Al-Yami, explained that this media coverage comes within the framework of the Federation's commitment to contributing to highlighting the tremendous efforts made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Federation's headquarters country, to facilitate the performance of the rituals for the Guests of God and make the Hajj journey an exceptional experience in the lives of pilgrims.
Al-Yami commended the significant work undertaken by the Kingdom's official media system to cover this year's Hajj season, under the supervision and follow-up of His Excellency the Minister of Media, Mr. Salman Al-Dosari. He emphasized that this work highlights the professionalism of the Saudi media and the advanced level of expertise it has attained.
