Jeddah (UNA) – The Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) organized a workshop on Wednesday (April 9, 2025) entitled “Photographic Reportage for the Media: Understanding Photography, Important Elements, and Most Common Mistakes.” The workshop was held in cooperation with Sputnik News Agency and Russian Radio, with the participation of more than 200 media practitioners from various countries around the world.

At the beginning of the workshop, the Federation's Director General, Mr. Mohammed bin Abdul Rabbo Al-Yami, explained that the workshop aims to enhance media professionals' awareness of the correct methods for obtaining distinctive shots and a complete photo report, given the great importance of images in persuasion, the completion of information, and its documentation. He expressed his thanks to Sputnik News Agency for its efforts in organizing the workshop and sharing its expertise with journalists in member states.

The workshop reviewed some of the negatives faced by those interested in photography and ways to address them. It also addressed errors that can undermine a photo report, and how a photographer can choose appropriate angles when working on photo stories for various media outlets, thus improving their work and creativity.

It's worth noting that the workshop is part of a series of training and educational programs organized by the Federation, with the aim of enhancing the capabilities of journalists in member states and increasing their awareness of the rapid transformations in media content production.
