
Jeddah (UNA) - The Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (UNA) will inaugurate its office in the State of Palestine tomorrow, Monday (March 10, 2025), in a celebration held online, with the participation of His Excellency the General Supervisor of Official Media in the State of Palestine, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council of the Union, Minister Ahmed Assaf, representatives of the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and a number of directors of member news agencies.
The inauguration of the Union’s first office outside the headquarters country, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, comes within the framework of implementing the decision issued by the sixth session of the Union’s General Assembly, which was held on January 27, 2025 via video conference, which called on the Union to coordinate with the Palestinian News and Information Agency (WAFA) in order to create a news exchange system concerned with publishing news of Palestine in all member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and in various languages, including by establishing a special office for this purpose.
The Director General of the Union, His Excellency Mr. Mohammed bin Abdul Rabbo Al-Yami, said that the opening of the office at this sensitive stage that the Palestinian cause is going through confirms the keenness of the Union and its member agencies to keep pace with developments in Palestine, and to enhance their joint media movement in supporting the Palestinian cause and exposing the violations and crimes of the Israeli occupation.
Al-Yami expressed his thanks to His Excellency Minister Assaf for his directive to open this office, noting that the office will work in full coordination with the official media system in Palestine to intensify the exchange of news about the issue of Palestine and Holy Jerusalem, and to ensure the broad presence of the just Palestinian narrative in the international media space.
