UNA signs MoU with OIC Media Department

Jeddah (UNA) – The Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (UNA) signed, on Thursday, a memorandum of understanding on media coordination with the Department of Information Affairs of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, in the presence of His Excellency the Secretary-General of the Organization, Mr. Hussein Ibrahim Taha.

The memorandum was signed within the framework of the eighth annual meeting of the organization’s institutions, held in Jeddah over two days, December 4-5, 2024.

The memorandum was signed on behalf of the Federation by the Director General, Mr. Mohammed bin Abdul Rabbo Al-Yami, while it was signed on behalf of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation by the Acting Director of the Department of Media Affairs, Dr. Abdul Hamid Salhi.

The memorandum aims to establish a framework for periodic coordination between the two parties in organizing joint programs and conferences, and ensuring media coverage of the organization’s events and its various bodies, in a way that contributes to enhancing its media presence and highlighting its significant contributions to serving the issues of the Islamic world.

The memorandum also aims to enhance cooperation between the two sides in implementing the decisions related to media affairs issued by the Islamic Summit and various ministerial conferences.

The Director General of the Union, Mohammed bin Abdul Rabbo Al-Yami, explained that the memorandum will add more coordination between the organization and the Union, which is one of the main specialized bodies in the field of media affiliated with the organization, noting that the memorandum will also enhance the roles assigned to the Union in coordinating the joint media movement of the member news agencies.

On this occasion, Al-Yami expressed his thanks to His Excellency the Secretary-General of the Organization, Mr. Hussein Ibrahim Taha, appreciating His Excellency’s support for the Union and his keenness to make its programs and activities a success.
