Jeddah (UNA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad Mohamed Ali Nafti affirmed Tunisia's firm commitment to the Palestinian cause, while stressing at the same time its commitment to spreading the values of moderation and coexistence at the international level.
This came in media statements made by the Minister during his visit today, Tuesday, to the headquarters of the Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (UNA) in Jeddah, after heading his country's delegation to the extraordinary Arab and Islamic summit held in Riyadh yesterday, Monday.
Al-Nafti said: “The Palestinian issue is the main issue for the Islamic world, and the Islamic group has played and continues to play its full role as the trustee of the nation’s issues.”
He stressed that the Islamic and Arab group demands an immediate cessation of aggression against the Palestinian and Lebanese people, and calls for a new phase based on implementing a just and equitable solution in accordance with international legitimacy, which restores Palestine's full rights and leads to the establishment of their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
The Minister pointed out that Tunisia, which is one of the founding countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, continues its prominent role in spreading the values of moderation, centrism and coexistence, and considers itself part of the efforts made to resolve issues of concern to the Islamic nation and humanity in general.
“We are always engaged in working to serve our communities and promote our Islamic values,” the Foreign Minister added.
At the end of his remarks, Al-Nafti expressed his happiness to visit the Federation, which is one of the institutions affiliated with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, stressing the importance of the role played by the Federation of News Agencies in enhancing understanding between peoples, expressing his hope that this work will contribute to making the world more humane and just.
