Jeddah (UNA) The Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (UNA) participated in the scientific and cultural forum “The Role of Tajik Scholars and Thinkers in Enriching Islamic Civilization” which was held today, Thursday, in Dushanbe, Republic of Tajikistan.
The forum is organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
The Director General of the Union, Mr. Mohammed bin Abdul Rabbah Al-Yami, said in a speech during the forum that Tajikistan has been distinguished throughout the centuries by its cultural and scientific heritage, which represented a crucible in which Arab sources met with various other civilizational tributaries to represent a wonderful mixture that enriched Islamic civilization.
In the speech, which was delivered virtually on his behalf, Al-Yami referred to a number of scholars, thinkers and poets that Tajikistan has presented to the world, stressing that Tajikistan has remained throughout the centuries a cultural center distinguished by its position rooted in the classical Islamic tradition and its openness at the same time to the knowledge and sciences produced by other civilizations within the framework of a duality based on respect for pluralism and cultural acculturation with the different other.
He stressed that Tajikistan, under the leadership of His Excellency President Emomali Rahmon, is currently continuing this active cultural role by establishing universities and scientific centers, and through active membership in international organizations, primarily the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and its affiliated institutions.
In his speech, Al-Yami called for raising the level of translation of Tajik works into the various languages of the peoples of the Islamic world, especially the Arabic language, and holding periodic conferences and forums to introduce the scientific and cultural production of Tajikistan throughout the ages.
He also urged strengthening the role of the media in introducing this civilizational and cultural product and activating the exchange of news in the field of culture between media institutions in Tajikistan and their counterparts in the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
Al-Yami pointed out that the Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation has a special relationship with the official media in Tajikistan, headed by the Tajik News Agency (Khovar), noting that the Union uses this relationship to introduce Tajikistan from various aspects and highlight its achievements in all fields.
