Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the Croatia News Agency: Media professionals bear the responsibility of spreading awareness about the events in Palestine

grandmother (UNA) - Chair of the Board of Directors of the Croatia News Agency, Dr. Magda Tavra Vlahovec, confirmed that media professionals bear the responsibility of spreading awareness of the events in Palestine in the societies of the world and transcending their political positions or affiliations, as humanity is one.

This came during her participation in the media forum: “Media and Palestinian Right: Practical steps to build on initiatives to recognize Palestine,” which was held via video conference on Sunday (June 9, 2024) and organized by the Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries.UNA), and the Assistant Secretariat for Institutional Communication of the Muslim World League, with the participation of news agencies in Islamic countries, international media unions, heads of international news agencies, and an elite group of diplomatic and intellectual figures.

She pointed out the importance of identifying practical steps for media cooperation to support initiatives to recognize the Palestinian state and make a tangible difference in this regard. These steps include capacity building, establishing relations between media professionals, and cooperation and establishing partnerships with non-governmental organizations.

She pointed out that training and development programs for media professionals enhance the effectiveness of media efforts in supporting recognition of Palestine, with these programs focusing on journalistic ethics in terms of accuracy and impartiality, and providing specialized programs in covering conflict areas to avoid causing its aggravation.

She pointed out that establishing a network of relations between media professionals is essential to support cooperation between them and strengthen the impact of initiatives calling for recognition of the Palestinian state. This is achieved by organizing conferences and forums, regional and international, that bring together journalists, writers, and media managers to exchange ideas and discuss cooperation strategies.

It is noteworthy that the forum issued a number of recommendations at the conclusion of its work, including eleven executive initiatives that enhance Islamic and international media support to defend the rights of the Palestinian people.
