“UNA” and the Assistant Secretariat for Institutional Communication of the Muslim World League organize a photo exhibition on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with Palestinian Journalists

grandmother (UNA) - The Permanent Representative of the State of Palestine to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Ambassador Maher Al-Karki, opened on Monday the photo exhibition organized by the Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) (UNA)

The exhibition comes within the framework of the efforts of the Union and the Muslim World League to support journalists in Palestine and highlight the targeting they are subjected to under the Israeli occupation and its ongoing war on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

The exhibition included more than 100 images showing the extent of the suffering to which the Palestinian people have been exposed since the start of the Israeli aggression last October, and documenting the massive destruction inflicted by the occupation on infrastructure and civilian facilities in the Gaza Strip.

The exhibition also documents Israel's violations and murders committed against unarmed civilians, including women and children.

In statements on this occasion, the Permanent Representative of the State of Palestine to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Ambassador Maher Al-Karki, explained that the exhibition represents a good initiative to defend Palestine and convey the true picture of the situation, especially in light of Israeli efforts to obscure the truth.

Al-Karki revealed that the number of martyred journalists to date has reached more than 130, pointing out that the ongoing Israeli aggression is the bloodiest and most threatening to the lives of journalists in modern wars, in clear violation of international law.

The Palestinian delegate called on international organizations, human rights organizations and the media to work to hold Israel accountable for its crimes against journalists.

The Palestinian delegate praised the initiatives of the Union of News Agencies and the Assistant General Secretariat for Institutional Liaison with the Muslim World League to support the cause of Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Sharif in the international media space, and to launch training programs aimed at spreading awareness of this issue.

For his part, the Permanent Saudi Representative to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Dr. Saleh bin Hamad Al-Suhaibani, stressed that the exhibition is consistent with the decisions of the Arab-Islamic Summit held in Riyadh, and the ministerial councils.

Al-Suhaibani explained that the complementary efforts between the member states and the institutions of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation will lead to serving the Palestinian cause in the media, especially since the member states have many media experiences, stressing the need to make double efforts in this aspect in order to confront the Israeli war machine and clarify the truth in particular to the Western media.

Al-Suhaibani urged expanding media efforts to advocate for the Palestinian cause so that it is not limited to Islamic countries only, but includes global opinion, including through producing cinematic films and releasing them in international theaters, making good use of social media and activating its role in communicating with others.

Al-Yami praised the unparalleled efforts made by the Palestinian media to convey the reality of the situation in Palestine to the world.

On the sidelines of the exhibition, the Yuna platform was launched to combat media misinformation, especially in news related to the Palestinian issue.

The platform aims to display Palestinian news drawn from original and reliable sources, and provide media professionals with the necessary skills and tools to identify fake news, in addition to providing a guide on the correct media terminology to describe events in Palestine.
