“UNA” participates in the seventh session of the FABA General Assembly

Jeddah (UNA) - The Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (UNA) participated in the work of the seventh session of the General Assembly of the Atlantic Federation of African News Agencies (FAAPA), which was held in the city of Salé in the Kingdom of Morocco during the period 22-23 January 2024.

The Union’s participation comes within the framework of its keenness to strengthen its international partnerships and strengthen its relations with continental media unions and press institutions in Africa.

During its participation in the session, the Union concluded a number of memorandums of understanding with African news agencies with the aim of enhancing news exchange.

The session discussed enhancing information cooperation on the Atlantic coast, supporting development initiatives in the Atlantic coast region, and preserving the media sovereignty of the countries of the continent.

It is noteworthy that the Atlantic Federation of African News Agencies was established in 2014 in Casablanca, and it is a professional platform for thinking about the future of news agencies and the role they must play in the twenty-first century in their diversity and specificities, taking into account the profound changes that characterize the media landscape in the context of globalization and in the era of globalization.
