Jeddah (UNA) - Next Sunday (November 12, 2023), the Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (UNA) will organize a virtual media forum entitled “The Role of the Media in Supporting the Palestinian Cause,” in partnership with the Assistant Secretariat for Institutional Communication of the Muslim World League.
The forum will be held with the participation of the Palestinian News and Information Agency (Wafa), member news agencies, the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the relevant organs of the organization, in addition to a number of diplomats and media professionals in Islamic countries.
The Acting Director General of the Federation of Organization of Islamic Cooperation News Agencies, His Excellency Mr. Muhammad bin Abd Rabbuh Al-Yami, explained that the forum aims to strengthen the role of the media in exposing the violations of the Israeli occupation during its comprehensive and continuous aggression against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, and to confront its narrative about the current events in Palestine and their roots. And its basic reasons.
Al-Yami pointed out that the forum also aims to get to know closely the reality of press institutions and journalists in the occupied Palestinian territories in light of the continuing Israeli aggression, and what Palestinian journalists in the field in particular are subjected to from direct Israeli targeting, which led to the martyrdom of a large number of them since the start of the aggression in The seventh of last October.
He pointed out that the forum will also discuss the challenges and opportunities in the work of the media and news agencies in member states to advocate for the Palestinian cause and strengthen Palestine’s position at the media level.
