The UAE and the Maldives discuss ways to enhance cooperation in the fields of tourism and hospitality.

Abu Dhabi (UNA/WAM) - Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy, met with Thoriq Ibrahim, Minister of Tourism and Environment of the Republic of Maldives. The two sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation in the tourism sector, benefit from the potential and opportunities available to both countries, and exchange expertise in developing tourism products in the field of hospitality and tourism infrastructure, in a way that enhances the competitiveness and sustainability of their economies.

Bin Touq stressed that relations between the UAE and the Republic of Maldives are based on brotherhood, friendship, and the exchange of economic and development interests. They are also characterised by close cooperation, and the two countries share a common vision for developing the tourism sector as an important economic tributary that enhances sustainable economic development in both countries. He pointed out that exchanging knowledge and coordinating efforts in the fields of hospitality, development of tourism facilities, infrastructure, and digital technologies contributes to creating new investment opportunities and enhances the position of the two friendly countries as leading tourist destinations at the regional and international levels.

He said: "We are keen to strengthen our economic partnership with the Maldives, particularly in the tourism sector, given its positive impact on supporting the national economy and providing distinguished tourism experiences that meet the aspirations of our visitors from around the world." He pointed out the importance of benefiting from the exchange of extensive tourism expertise between the two countries in the field of hospitality and hotels, as well as the development and management of tourism facilities and attracting international tourists.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed opportunities for cooperation in developing joint tourism products and enhancing investments in the hospitality sector. They also discussed exchanging expertise in tourism marketing and destination management, and reviewed the latest global trends in integrating modern technologies and applications into the tourism sector, which would contribute to supporting sustainable economic growth in both countries.
This meeting comes within the framework of the UAE's commitment to strengthening its bilateral relations with the Republic of Maldives and expanding cooperation in vital sectors that contribute to achieving sustainable economic development, in line with the "We the Emirates 2031" vision and its strategic objectives to support a diversified economic development.
