Qatar Web Summit 2024: The largest event in the world of technology will start next Monday

Doha (UNA/QNA) - The Qatar Web Summit 2024 will kick off next Monday, in the presence of thousands of entrepreneurs, investors, technology sector leaders and experts from around the world.

During a press conference held today at the Four Seasons Hotel Doha, the Government Communications Office announced the completion of all preparations to host the summit at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center in the presence of more than 12 participants and more than 1000 emerging companies from 80 countries, including 100 Qatari companies, and more than 500. Investors, 200 speakers, more than 100 partners, in addition to extensive media coverage with the participation of representatives of 500 media outlets from around the world, to cover the activities of the summit, which continues over four days.

Sheikh Jassim bin Mansour bin Jabr Al Thani, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Qatar Web Summit 2024, said: “We recorded the largest number of participating startups,” noting that the Qatar Web Summit 2024 is the first inaugural edition of the summit to witness this number of startups in the history of the global event. This reflects the position that the State of Qatar has gained in the region and the world, as a promising destination for the technology and investment sector.

He added during his speech at the press conference: “Dozens of emerging Qatari companies are participating in the summit,” calling on young entrepreneurs to benefit from organizing the summit in their country for the first time in the region, and to invest this opportunity in building partnerships and communication with leading international companies, and acquiring more knowledge. And experiences during the summit activities, and communication with event participants from all over the world. This is with the aim of strengthening the technology business sector in the State of Qatar, and contributing to empowering the capabilities of existing and emerging national companies, which will reflect positively on the national economy.

Among the Qatari startups participating in the summit are Evi, which specializes in health technology, the Zaki e-commerce platform, MMMA Systems, which specializes in developing airport management systems supported by artificial intelligence, the Waqtha application, which specializes in tourism and reservations, and the educational platform My Teacher, And the Urban Point application, which offers discounts on restaurants and entertainment destinations in Qatar.

For her part, Catherine Maher, CEO of the Web Summit, said: “The first edition of the Web Summit in the Middle East and Africa, hosted by Qatar this year, is distinguished by an increase in the number of startups participating in the summit to more than 1000 companies, which is more than double the expected number, and represents “10 percent of them are Qatari startups, and the participation rate of companies founded by women has increased to 30 percent. Influential startups represent a presence of about 10 percent, while companies from the Middle East region accounted for approximately 50 percent of the total number of startups participating in the summit.”

Maher pointed to the opportunities that the summit provides to female entrepreneurs participating in this edition, as it allows them to contribute to the development of the economy and society, explaining that the “Pioneers in the Technology Sector” program organized by the summit this year enjoys a remarkable presence from the State of Qatar, the Middle East and around the world, as well as All tickets for this program are completely sold out.
