More than 18500 patients in Gaza need medical evacuation

Geneva (UNA/WAFA) – The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, announced that more than 18,500 patients in the Gaza Strip still need urgent medical evacuation..

This came in a post by Ghebreyesus on the platform of the American company “X” last night, regarding the latest developments in the health situation in the Gaza Strip..

He noted that the World Health Organization last week supported the medical evacuation of 18 patients and 36 companions from the Gaza Strip to Jordan to receive the necessary medical care for injuries, cancer and other serious illnesses.

The UN official expressed his gratitude to Jordan for its continued solidarity and for welcoming those in need of medical care..

Ghebreyesus stated that more than 30 countries have received over 10,700 patients from Gaza for treatment since October 2023..

He said: “But more than 18,500 patients, including 4,000 children, are still in dire need of urgent medical evacuation.”".

He called for more countries to open their doors to Gaza patients and for medical evacuations to the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, to resume.
