New York (UNA/WAFA) – The United Nations announced its categorical rejection of statements by an Israeli official who claimed that “the yellow line in Gaza represents the new border,” stressing that it completely opposes any change to the borders of Gaza and Israel.
In response to a question about the remarks made by the Israeli army chief of staff, Eyal Zamir, regarding the yellow line in Gaza, the spokesman for the UN Secretary-General, Stephane Dujarric, said at the daily press briefing: “We categorically oppose any change to the borders of Gaza and Israel.”
Dujarric pointed out that this statement contradicts the spirit and text of the peace plan put forward by US President Donald Trump, explaining that the United Nations, when talking about Gaza, relies on the existing borders between Gaza and Israel and not the yellow line.
The Chief of Staff of the occupation army, Eyal Zamir, said that “the yellow line represents the new borders of the Gaza Strip,” claiming in a statement that it constitutes “an advanced line of defense for the settlements and a line of attack.”
The yellow line is the line to which the occupation army withdrew as part of the implementation of the first phase of President Trump's plan to end the war on Gaza.
