Israeli prisons are experiencing the worst cold wave as Palestinian detainees are deprived of blankets and clothing.

Ramallah (UNA/WAFA) - The Palestinian Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs reported that Israeli occupation prisons are experiencing the worst cold wave to hit detainees in years, as the administration deliberately deprives them of blankets and winter clothes, turning the cells into human freezing rooms that threaten everyone’s life without exception.
The commission confirmed in a statement issued on Wednesday that the cold inside the sections is dozens of times harsher than outside; the cement walls absorb moisture, the metal beds sting the bodies, and the cold air seeps in throughout the night without stopping, while the prisoners have nothing but light clothes that cannot withstand the winter of the prisons.
She added that the scenes of the situation inside the cells have become shocking, as detainees sleep on the floor due to the lack of warm mattresses, others cover themselves with a tattered piece of cloth, and sick people shiver all night without medicine or a blanket, in a scene that the organization described as the most severe form of torture.
She warned of an imminent mass health deterioration if this policy continues, especially with the rise in cases of infections, severe colds, and worsening joint pain, noting that what is happening is a deliberate attack on the lives of prisoners and not just difficult conditions.
The commission stressed that the occupation uses winter as a weapon of repression that has been present for years, by depriving prisoners of their most basic human rights, holding the occupation fully responsible for any disaster that may occur.
She called for immediate international intervention to protect detainees from the dangers caused by the harsh cold wave inside the occupation prisons.
