Jerusalem (UNA/WAFA) – European Union diplomatic missions in Jerusalem and Ramallah said that the forced raid on UNRWA headquarters in East Jerusalem, which resulted in the seizure of property, the cutting off of communications, and the replacement of the UN flag with the Israeli flag, constitutes a flagrant violation of the UN Privileges and Immunities Agreement.
The joint statement issued by the diplomatic missions in Jerusalem and Ramallah of the European Union and the countries of France, Germany, Finland, Denmark, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Poland, Slovenia, Greece, Cyprus, Austria, Sweden, Switzerland, Belgium, Ireland, Portugal, and Spain continued, saying that such actions create a dangerous precedent of completely disregarding international law, including the Geneva Conventions, which provide legal protection to organizations performing vital tasks in accordance with international humanitarian law.
She continued: Israel must fulfill its obligations under the United Nations Convention on Privileges and Immunities, which guarantees the inviolability of United Nations premises and prohibits their violation.
