Displaced people in Gaza struggle against the cold and danger in tents that offer no protection.

Khan Younis (UNA/WAFA) – The suffering of displaced people in the Al-Mawasi area, south of the Gaza Strip, is renewed with every low-pressure system, in dilapidated tents that do not protect them from the cold of winter or the heat of summer. The risks increase for the displaced people living along the seashore, as the sea tide threatens them more than the heavy rains that flood their tents.
Displaced person Mohammed Abu Khater from the Ma’an area, east of the town of Bani Suheila, hopes that the second phase of the ceasefire will allow him to return to his home after an eight-month displacement, noting that his life and the lives of his children, the oldest of whom is no more than ten years old, are threatened between the rain and the sea.
Hundreds of displaced people on both sides of Al-Rashid Road are also suffering from rainwater flowing into their tents due to the constant movement of cars, amid difficulty in finding alternative places due to the overcrowding of the area and the occupation preventing them from returning to their homes.
Displaced resident Ibrahim Abdel from Rafah said that their tent is close to the street, which puts their lives at risk during rainfall and heavy traffic, stressing that the search for alternative shelter has been fruitless over the past two months.
The displaced woman, Hajja Umm Iyad, called on all concerned associations and institutions to look with compassion upon the displaced and to distribute tents to those who deserve them, noting that the high prices of tents in the markets exceed the ability of displaced families to buy them, despite the urgent need for them with the beginning of winter.
The displaced people hope for the withdrawal of the occupation and the introduction of caravans in preparation for the start of the reconstruction process, to end their suffering that has lasted for two years in tents.
It is noted that the suffering of displaced people in the Gaza Strip is renewed with every low-pressure system, as the dilapidated tents are flooded with water and the residents face the harsh winter cold, which increases the difficulty of their daily lives and threatens their health.
