Ankara (UNA/Anadolu) – Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced on Saturday that his country is ready to do its part and contribute to peace efforts regarding the Gaza Strip.
This came during his participation in a session at the Doha 2025 Forum, which kicked off on Saturday in the Qatari capital and will last for two days.
When asked whether Türkiye would send troops to Gaza, Fidan said that Türkiye was ready to contribute to peace efforts.
He added, “Above all, Türkiye is ready to do its part and is prepared to contribute to the ongoing peace efforts in which everyone is involved.”
He noted that there was a detailed discussion regarding the international stabilization force in Gaza, how it would be implemented, what its specific mission would be, and how its rules of engagement document would be prepared.
He added, “I think we need to be realistic about the mission of the International Stabilization Force, and pay attention to the nuances when talking about our expectations of it, because there are clear facts on the ground.”
He added: “I believe the primary objective of deploying the international stabilization force should be to separate the Palestinians from the Israelis on the border.”
He stressed the need to complete all activities that will be undertaken by the International Stabilization Force, train other organizations and units such as internal security forces, and establish a local administration and a peace council.
Earlier on Saturday, the 23rd edition of the Doha Forum 2025 kicked off in the Qatari capital, with the participation of the Emir of Qatar, heads of state, experts, diplomats, and high-level attendees from around the world.
Over the course of Saturday and Sunday, the Sheraton Doha Hotel will host the forum sessions, with global media partnership from Anadolu Agency.
The forum is attended by more than 6 people and 471 speakers from about 160 countries.
In mid-November, the UN Security Council adopted a US draft resolution authorizing the establishment of a temporary international force to be deployed in Gaza until the end of 2027.
On October 10, 2025, a ceasefire agreement in Gaza and a prisoner exchange between Hamas and Israel went into effect, according to the plan of US President Donald Trump.
With American support, Israel launched a war of extermination in Gaza on October 8, 2023, leaving more than 70 dead and more than 171 wounded Palestinians, most of them children and women.
In addition to the casualties, most of whom are children and women, Israel has caused massive destruction in Gaza, with the United Nations estimating the cost of reconstruction at around $70 billion.
