Turkish Foreign Minister: Türkiye is ready to assume its responsibilities in Gaza

Istanbul (UNA/Anadolu) – Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said that Türkiye is ready to assume its responsibility in the Gaza Strip and will do everything in its power, including sending troops.

This came in statements made by Fidan on Saturday, during his participation in a program on the Turkish channel “A Haber”.

Regarding the “International Stabilization Force” that is to be deployed in Gaza, Fidan indicated that work is underway to prepare a draft resolution that will constitute an international legal document, relating to the clear powers that this force will have during its activation, and how it will operate.

He pointed out the existence of a civil-military cooperation center currently coordinated by the United States, which it established with Israel.

Fidan added that this would form the nucleus of an international stabilization force.

He explained that “Türkiye is ready to assume its responsibility in Gaza, and will do everything that falls within its purview, including sending troops.”

He continued: “A peace committee and an international stabilization force will be established in Gaza, and discussions on this issue are ongoing. The United States has conducted studies on this matter and is consulting with Türkiye.”

Fidan pointed out that Türkiye continues to send its humanitarian aid to Gaza without interruption, and that the aid it sent to the port of El Arish in Egypt is countless.

He stressed that the Sharm el-Sheikh agreement, regarding the ceasefire in Gaza, is an agreement that Türkiye supports and will continue to support, but it does not offer a guarantee in the traditional sense.

The Turkish minister stressed that “when it comes to defending Palestine and resistance, as long as the occupation and injustice continue, armed resistance will continue; if not Hamas, then another party, because this is inherent in the nature of confronting the occupation.”

He said, “Every Palestinian will do what is required of him. The Westerners know this, and everyone knows this.”

He added: “The formation of a non-political committee to manage daily life in Gaza is under consideration, and Hamas has announced its readiness to hand over the administration of Gaza to this Palestinian committee.”
