
Cairo (UNA/WAFA) – Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammed Al-Yamahi affirmed that the independence of Palestine is a historic event, and that the Palestinian people have the firm and legitimate right to establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
In a press statement issued Saturday evening, on the 37th anniversary of the declaration of the State of Palestine's independence, Al-Yamahi stressed that the Israeli occupation cannot obscure the established fact that the Palestinian people have the full right to establish their independent state and enjoy complete sovereignty, in accordance with international law and UN resolutions..
He noted the continued parliamentary and diplomatic efforts of the Arab Parliament to support the legitimate Palestinian rights to full independence, reiterating the Arab Parliament’s call to all regional and international parliaments to recognize the State of Palestine, provide it with full support in international forums, and urge governments to take practical steps in line with their legal and moral obligations towards the Palestinian cause.
Al-Yamahi affirmed the Arab Parliament’s permanent and unwavering support for the Palestinian people and their inalienable national rights, and its commitment to continuing its efforts to defend these rights until the Palestinian state achieves its full independence and full membership in the United Nations.
