New York (UNA/WAFA) – The United Nations said that Israeli settlers carried out 264 attacks against Palestinians in the West Bank during October, the highest monthly tally in nearly 20 years.
The Deputy Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, Farhan Haq, noted at a press conference a significant increase in attacks by Israeli settlers against Palestinians in the West Bank, according to data from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
He added that “OCHA recorded 264 attacks last month that resulted in the deaths of Palestinians, damage to their property, or both,” stressing that this figure is the highest monthly toll in nearly 20 years.
He pointed out that the number of Israeli attacks against Palestinians since 2006 has reached 6,900, including 15 percent, or approximately 1,500, which occurred during the current year.
He stated that the settlers’ acts of violence resulted in the displacement of 3,200 Palestinians from their land, the martyrdom of many by gunfire, the injury of hundreds of others, and the loss of livelihoods for many more.
The Deputy Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General confirmed that settler attacks usually target Palestinian trees, cars, homes, and infrastructure.
He added that OCHA data also documented the martyrdom of 42 children as a result of attacks by the occupation and settlers in the West Bank this year, which constitutes one in every five martyrs.
It is worth noting that the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission announced that settler attacks during the past month amounted to 766 attacks, concentrated in the governorates of Ramallah and Al-Bireh with 195 attacks, Nablus with 179 attacks, and Hebron with 126 attacks.
In its monthly report, it indicated that terrorist attacks by settlers led to the martyrdom of citizen Jihad Muhammad Ajaj (26 years old) from the town of Deir Jarir, in a direct shooting operation by settlers, bringing the number of citizens who were martyred by settlers’ bullets since the beginning of 2025 to 14 martyrs.
She added that settlers carried out 352 acts of vandalism and theft of Palestinian property, affecting vast areas of land. Settler attacks, with the help of the occupation army, also resulted in the uprooting, destruction, and poisoning of 1200 trees, all of which were olive trees.
