Abu Dhabi (UNA/WAM) - In implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, to provide treatment and healthcare to 1000 wounded Palestinian children and 1000 cancer patients from the Gaza Strip in the country's hospitals.
The UAE, in cooperation with the World Health Organization, operated a new evacuation flight from Ramon Airport in Israel via the Kerem Shalom crossing. The flight carried 101 patients accompanied by 87 family members, bringing the total number of patients and their companions to date to 2634. This reflects the UAE's commitment to providing the necessary medical care to our Palestinian brothers and sisters in the country's hospitals.
Sultan Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for International Development and Deputy Chairman of the Emirates International Aid Agency, said: “The initiative of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, falls within the framework of the UAE’s historic support for the brotherly Palestinian people and its support for the residents of Gaza during the current crisis. The UAE’s humanitarian initiatives contribute to mitigating the catastrophic effects facing the residents of the Strip, especially children, women, and the elderly.”
He added: “At this critical time, the UAE will spare no effort in extending a helping hand to our Palestinian brothers and sisters and providing relief initiatives, whether by land, sea or air. It will continue to work diligently – and play a leading and pioneering role – with the United Nations and international partners to redouble the necessary efforts to support efforts to alleviate the humanitarian suffering in Gaza, and to ensure the immediate, safe, unhindered, widespread and sustainable flow of aid through all possible means.”
He pointed out that the UAE has topped the list of countries that have provided the most support to the people of the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the crisis in October 2023, accounting for more than 40% of the total aid provided.
He stressed that the UAE's ongoing medical evacuation efforts reflect its commitment to providing advanced healthcare to injured Palestinians and contributing to humanitarian support during these critical circumstances. He noted that the UAE will spare no effort in its humanitarian support for the people of Gaza during these difficult times, and will continue its humanitarian and relief efforts and the evacuation of the injured and sick, reflecting its deep commitment to saving lives.
He added: “Since the outbreak of the crisis, the UAE has made tireless efforts to provide advanced healthcare to injured and sick Palestinians through the UAE field hospital in southern Gaza and the floating hospital off the coast of the Egyptian city of Arish. Since the beginning of the crisis, the UAE has provided a broad relief response to our Palestinian brothers and sisters to support them in their critical circumstances, providing more than 65000 tons of relief, food, and medical supplies.
