Tulkarm (UNA/WAFA) – The Palestinian Cabinet held its weekly session on Monday in Tulkarm Governorate, during which it affirmed that it will continue its efforts and discuss further measures that can be taken to overcome the exceptional circumstances.
In his speech during the session, Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa said that the Palestinian government is continuing its efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people, renewing its pledge to stand by the citizens until the occupation ends and the land is returned to its owners.
He added: “We gather today in Tulkarm, our hearts heavy with the memory of the Nakba, which is only three days away, and whose chapters and contemporary evidence are being renewed, including killing, displacement, and hunger in various parts of the homeland, in Gaza, and other areas in the West Bank.
He added, "But we are also full of hope that this occupation and aggression will end, that the land will be returned to its owners, and that dignity will return to our people."
He pointed out that the visit to Tulkarm by the Council of Ministers carries a message from President Mahmoud Abbas to the people of the governorate, stating, "We are with you, and we will do everything possible to lift this distress from our people in the governorate, in cooperation with all national and popular institutions and UNRWA, to rectify this difficult situation."
Mustafa explained that a preparatory meeting preceded the cabinet session, bringing together partner institutions, including the Chamber of Commerce, the security services, the municipality, and the popular committees in the camps. During the meeting, the greetings and thanks of President Mahmoud Abbas and the government were conveyed for their positions, steadfastness, and solidarity, as well as for the collective effort that has alleviated the suffering of the Palestinian people in Tulkarm.
He pointed out that they were also informed of the government's readiness to work with them in coordination with everyone, starting with the governor, to implement the relief program, emergency programs, employment, and reconstruction. In addition to what has been accomplished so far, there will be new programs for various sectors, including health, agriculture, roads, housing, employment programs, and other measures to support the private sector, which, like other sectors, has been subjected to destruction and suffering on the economic level.
It's worth noting that the occupation forces have been waging an aggression against the city of Tulkarm and its camp for the 106th consecutive day, and against the Nur Shams camp for the 93rd day, amid a continuous escalation in the field, including raids, arrests, and home evictions.
