
Ramallah (UNA/WAFA) – The Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) met, chaired by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, to review the results of the 32nd session of the Palestinian Central Council held in Ramallah and discuss practical measures to implement its decisions.
President Mahmoud Abbas stressed the need to initiate a comprehensive national dialogue between the committee assigned by the PLO Executive Committee and the Fatah Central Committee, with all factions, to achieve reconciliation and strengthen national unity within the framework of the Palestine Liberation Organization, the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people.
The President of the State of Palestine, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Mahmoud Abbas, in accordance with the decision of the Palestinian Central Council dated April 24, 2025, during its 32nd session, which decided to create and appoint the position of Vice-Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, President of the State of Palestine, and based on the powers vested in him, nominated Mr. Hussein Shehadeh Muhammad Al-Sheikh for this position.
In its session held today, the Executive Committee approved the nomination submitted by President Mahmoud Abbas to appoint Mr. Hussein Al-Sheikh as Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization and President of the State of Palestine.
The Executive Committee will hold a meeting next Saturday to select a Secretary from among its members.
President Mahmoud Abbas briefed the Executive Committee on the upcoming political moves to halt the aggression and genocidal war, expedite the entry of humanitarian and medical aid into the Gaza Strip, ensure the State of Palestine fully assumes its responsibilities, ensure the complete withdrawal of occupation forces from the Gaza Strip, and embark on a political process to end the occupation and establish a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
