Qatar participates in the Arab League's emergency meeting to discuss halting Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people.

Cairo (UNA/QNA) - The State of Qatar participated in the extraordinary session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the level of permanent delegates, which was held today at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League in Cairo, at the request of the State of Palestine, to discuss Arab and international action to compel Israel to stop its crimes and aggression against the Palestinian people, and to comply with international law and international legitimacy resolutions.

The State of Qatar's delegation to the session was headed by Mr. Tariq Ali Faraj Al Ansari, Qatar's Ambassador to Egypt and the country's Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States.

In this context, Ambassador Al-Ansari confirmed, in a statement to the Qatar News Agency (QNA), that the meeting was held in the wake of the brutal and heinous crime committed by the Israeli occupation forces against Palestinian civilians at dawn yesterday, Tuesday, during the holy month of Ramadan. He added that this crime is a continuation of the occupation forces’ perpetration of genocide and crimes against humanity against the defenseless Palestinian people.

He pointed out that the meeting aimed to issue a resolution embodying the principles agreed upon in the Cairo Declaration issued by the extraordinary Arab Summit hosted by Egypt on March 4.

He explained that the draft resolution addressed the heinous crime committed by the Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinian people and called on the international community to assume its responsibilities arising from the legal obligations set forth in previous resolutions. This responsibility is not only borne by Arab countries, but also by all countries in the world, regional organizations, and others.

He pointed out that the draft resolution also emphasized the importance of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, which was achieved through the joint efforts of the State of Qatar and the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the necessity of consolidating it and implementing all its stages. The resolution also emphasized the need for follow-up in this regard by the concerned countries and by the Arab Islamic Committee formed for this purpose.

It is noteworthy that the State of Palestine's request to hold an extraordinary session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the level of permanent representatives came after Israel, the occupying power, resumed its crimes of aggression, genocide, and ethnic cleansing against the Palestinian people early Tuesday morning. These crimes have left more than 400 martyrs and hundreds more wounded in the Gaza Strip, coinciding with the occupation's cutting off of electricity to the Strip and preventing the entry of humanitarian, medical, and relief aid into the Strip.
